Hello all this is my first thread on this site, would like to here your views on it.
Thanks D4
How would Pacquiao and Mayweather get on if they fought in these boxing formats/rules.
Who would benefit by them and how?
Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Bare Knuckle fighting.
In this format Pacquiao has a big advantage for me with his attacking style. Pacquiao also has more power and and better chin. Mayweather has had problems with hands for a many years so without gloves he is a lot more likely to receive a hand injury. Mayweather also take a lot of shots on the gloves, bare knuckles a tiny surface area in comparison so a lot more of those shot will get through.
Pacquiao vs Mayweather: unlimited rounds
Who wins if they had unlimited round like some fights had been before the gradual shift towards the 15 rounds for a championship came in. Both extremely well conditioned but who's condition will falter first. Longest fight ever lasted over 7 hours and over 100 rounds.
Mayweather vs Pacquiao: in the 1920s.
Smaller and ligther gloves Pacquiao for similar reasons as the bare knuckle fights, but fighters got away with a lot more dirty tricks back then, elbow, spoiling tactics, so this might favour Mayweather. No neutral corner for a knockdown down as well, I thought at first this could favour Pacquiao but he would probably do honourable think just as his country man Villa did and go to a neutral corner anyway.
Pacquiao vs Mayweather: Olympics
Mayweather wants "Olympic style test" how does he get on against Pacquiao if they fight under the Olympic rules. Bigger gloves, head guards, scoring punches, you might think that it would favour Mayweather, but Mayweather is a slow starter and take a few rounds to work out his opponent, while Pacquiao is quick out the blocks. So with only 4 rounds the advantage could be with Pacquiao also the two minute rounds would favour a volume punher.
Pacquiao vs Mayweather: Street Fighting
This may come down on who wants it more and who has more heart. More than likely that is Pacquiao but Mayweather has had more experience in fighting outside the ring.
