Zab did what got him success back in his prime years (you might have been a tad to young to remember those fights, watching the Tsyu ko on youtube doesnt count). He stacked the points early and coasted the way through. Although this time he seems to show more foccuss then in the past.
Zab was getting hit to the body often in the earlier rounds, and Matthysse was landing the harder, more effective punches. that, coupled with the knockdown had him at a comfortable lead in a pretty close fight IMO.

but body shots are very underrated and do not get scored much. (which is probably why Zab got the nod)

worst case senario for Matthysse should have been a draw. but oh well, can't do anything about it now.

i look forward to seeing more of Matthysse, the guy has a ton of power along with some good boxing skills.

Maidana vs. Matthysse is a tossup at this moment, and i hope we see that fight in the near future

Matthysse is the real deal, not just a mindless brawler either... he showed he has some ring smarts, boxing skill, and patience to go along with his power against Zab and now this.

Hope to see him enter the fray in the 140 merry-go-round, he'd be a hard fight for anyone.
back in the sense that of all of the fights being discussed at 140 - either already scheduled or in the hypothetical sense - none seem to involve Matthysse. It's a shame, since he came within a point of still being undefeated.

I didn't necessarily think he was robbed against Judah, although I think I had him winning by a point. That he lost by that margin makes it acceptable.

It wasn't a high way robbery, the fight was close, but like Max Kellerman said,I'd prefer to have been Mattysse that entire fight with Judah. That's why he won,(in my eyes).

Lucas clearly beat Judah. It is becoming increasingly difficult for foreigners to win a decision in the US.

Or have we forgotten how many times Sergio Martinez has been jobbed. As a matter of fact, all of Martinez's wins in the US have come by KO. Sergio can't win a decision because of the biasness of the judges.

The Judah fight was close no robbery there.

no he didn't and stop acting like your boxing "experience" means more than the guy you replied to.

Judah did squat against Matthysse and up until the knockdown it was a fairly even back and forth fight with neither guy doing much to take control.

and Zab's focus is the same as it ever was nothing is going to remedy that.

good solid expected win for Lucas and to me he is a sleeper at 140

McCloskey needs to be targeting one of these guys.

                      140 is deep.
