A true boxing fans is not obsessed with one particular fighter, its also fine to be a fan of a fellow countrymen but if you can be fair.

    Example:

When Felix Trinidad fought Bernard Hopkins I hated Hopkins because of his big mouth. I wanted Tito to KO him bad.
As I watched the fight I was won over by the method, professionalism, and the art of boxing and strategy Hopkins was using against Tito. Thats a boxing fan.

If you have ever watched Floyd Mayweather box and take an opponent apart in slow motion and appreciate it..your a boxing fan

Basically to be able to appreciate the Art and science of boxing.
Honor, Warriors, Gifted fighters, Brawlers,Taking on all comers, Knockout artists, Incredible heart fighters...If you appreciate all aspects...your a boxing fan.

The only thing that disgraces you are fighters who disgrace the sport. Basically cheaters,Ped users, cherry picking, etc.

One can understand the money and politics of boxing but no need to agree with it as if the money is being placed in your pocket, you see it for what it is....thats a boxing fan.

      agree with above posts,very good.

i do enjoy watching the physical chess game and game of will vs will and skill vs skill, even will vs skill is the best.

i would say,for me,having to stay up till 3,4 even 5 in the morning on regular weekends to catch fights can be considered as a thing a real boxing fan would do.

      to follow boxers careers.

to study past greats,to watch every single fight of several fighters a lot of times.

to learn which boxer learnt what from who,and who was before them, who they got their style from ect.

I dont think a person has to be a boxing historian. I think boxing fan is willing to do a little history on their favorite boxer and doesnt just take somebody's word for it. And anyone who got butterflies from the opening bell of Morales/Pacquiao 1.

someone who looks down at other peoples opinion or knowledge of the sport feels that no one else knows more about boxing than themselves.

Just joking cant stand kids who are like this.

If your name is something like Francisco Mayabongbong, you are not a real boxing fan.
