it was already coming, HBO has being on a decline since last year when it comes to fights, showtime has boxing and MMA. Dont be surprise if HBO gets deebo on any upcoming fights....

Well, that could be good for boxing as wellArum has made threats about doing this, and he has been kind of upset on HBO dealings. I think the whole Cotto-Vanes situation did it. I think if HBO would have picked Cotto-Vanes then Pac-Mosley would have been on HBO. But, since they didn't I think this is Arum giving HBO the big "F U" and trying to stick it to HBO.

This is not just about a 24/7-like show on CBS, which, as somebody mentioned, cannot be as provocative as on HBO due to restrictions and probably would not be aired during a prime time slot. The real development to embrace are the ads for the fight that will be featured on network TV for millions to see! Even if they don't buy the fight, suddenly they're reminded that boxing is alive and kicking. Could you imagine how many people will be exposed to an adrenaline fueled boxing promo during one of CBS's prime time shows?!
The last thing we need are whatever little number of resources we have for enjoying boxing competing against each other on the same night. That would only divide viewership rather than promote the sport on as many occasions as possible. No, HBO hasn't realized anything. It wasn't HBO decision. HBO wanted this fight, Arum just screwed them over and is trying to stick to them, for turning down Cotto-Vanes, by moving not only the 2nd biggest cash cow in boxing(Cotto) but also the biggest cash cow and most popular fighter to the rival network across the street(Pac).
Note: not counting Floyd because in reality he's irrelevant to the sport right now. There is no talks on when or if he will fight again. So until there are talks of him getting in the ring then there is no need to mention it.
If HBO wants to fight back they should host a triple header on the date, May 7, for free. JMM-Morales, Guerrero-Katsidis, and Alvarez. It will be a Cinco de Mayo weekend and it will take away some buyers from the Pac-Mosley event.Comment

Not really because I'm talking about free fights over PPV. Fights like Pac-Mosley on PPV doesn't help sport advance at all.
You take away some buys where that event flops. It might force Arum/Pac hand to step up and start fighting some prime fighters instead of tune ups after tune ups.Comment

So Bob Arum is taking his in-house fights and ****ty PPV undercards to CBS? Whoopty doo.
Fightcamp 360 does a good job but it won't be enough to polish the turd that is Pacquiao vs. Mosley.Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 01-22-2011, 07:10 PM.Comment
