Word is Top Rank and Zanfer have an interest signing Venezuelan prospect Luis Valero, the younger brother of the late former world champion Edwin Valero. Luis has had a lot of attention and interest in his career after making his professional debut in 2010 and now has won three fights – all by first round KO. Sources say Valero is mulling over a multi-year offer. If he accepts, he would relocate to Los Angeles and work with former Edwin Valero trainers Mario Morales and Roberto Alcázar, as well as the respected Joel Diaz.

Will Luis Valero be anything like his brother was?

If you mean a crazy murderer and wife beater, hopefully not.

Rafael is a scumbag.
Luis doesn't excite me like Edwin did but I hope he can have success and carry on his brothers legacy.Comment

Luis only had 7 amateur fights, all of which he won, though Luis said he's sparred with Edwin many times. With luck, Luis will have a good team that builds him to develop his personal strengths in the ring instead of trying to model him after his brother to please fans. Luis' potential as a fighter can't be judged this early, but he seems determined to be the morally good brother fighting to earn respect and restore the family name.Comment
