Comments Thread For: McCloskey Optomistic About Fighting Amir Khan in April

European junior welterweight champion Paul McCloskey is still optomistic that a deal will reached for a fight with WBA champion Amir Khan on April 16 in Manchester. Talks fell apart a few days ago after McCloskey's promoter, Barry Hearn, called Khan's initial offer "a joke." They sides have since continued to negotiate the financial terms, although other names are also being considered to fight Khan.

I bet McCloskey bent over like an Irish woman and agreed on all of Amir's terms.

          chill out. Jesus.

I'm excited about this fight. I like McCloskey's style. He's very watchable.

Of course, this fight really doesn't do a lot for Khan's career at this stage and McCloskey will be a handful.

I actually think this is the highest risk lowest-reward fight for Khan. The American's assume he is s.hit and he has no real reputation outside of Ireland.

I bet they got him somewhat on the cheap.

McCloskey should be fighting Salita, not Khan.

McCloskey in reality should be fighting a Juan Urango , a Peterson, a Holt.

But if he can get a shot at the draw of the division and cut in then he and his team must be delighted.

I think this is a good fight but I would be surprised if HBO broadcasts it...it's definetly too early for mccloskey but if he brings his A game then he can make this "kinda" interesting
