I agree. Mayorga should have moved up to MW if he can't weigh in fight night within 10% of his weight limit. It is simultaneously unhealthy and professionally dangerous and wrong for him .

Alot of Boxers do the same ****.

Mayorga does it mostly cuz he's old (in ring years) though, and being heavy handed is about the one shot he has at winning the fight.
What are you blabbering about ? Glen Johnson , even in his second run as a supermiddleweight is not doing the same thing .
Glen Johnson is always in shape , and never too far from his weight limit.

There is no way he will weigh 178.

          He's just talking.

that extra weight will make him heavy handed and can absorb a punch from a smaller opponent....His weight will help a lot of reducing chances of being KO in a fight...His weight will give him much more confidence that he can take his opponent best punch and after that have a puncher chance of defeating his opponent.....

Sergio Martinez was 157pound in weigh in and hydrated to 176 pound with a gain of 19 pounds at fightnight which tremendously help him KO Paul Williams....

As far as Mayorgas remarks comparing Cotto to Tito he is dead on. And no one is to blame but Cotto. He is an arrogant POS from the Metropolitan area where they think they are smarter and better than the people from the country. That's why Tito will always be number one, because he was/is humble. Tito is the epidomy of what a Jibaro really means. Cotto on the other hand is what we ricans call un come mierda. True story
