Alexander Pavlov reports that former European heavyweight champion Wladimir Virchis (25-2, 20KOs) of Ukraine will take part in the training camp of undefeated Odlanier Solis, as the Olympic gold medal winner prepares for his bout with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko on March 19 at the Lanxess-Arena in Cologne, Germany.

Virchis is big, Ukrainian and a hard puncher, but he's slow and is far inferior to the Klitschkos in athleticism and boxing skills.

Very rarely will you find a man who is both big and athletic, usually the big men are slow and crude. That's what makes the Klitschkos and Lennox Lewis special.

Which is why there shouldn't be a super-heavy division.

Although, someone like Valuev has got as far as he has by being massive and having a competent jab. But a few fighters have taken him apart now. But when he commits to just throwing the jab and neglecting throwing anything big he provides problems - like his fight against Haye. I think Valuev threw about 3 right hands that night and nearly got him knocked out doing it in the 12th. Just his dimensions was causing problems for Haye. Valuev had a smart strategy that fight but it certainly didn't take a lot of boxing skill.

Being Valuev massive levels the playing field it has to.

I wonder if K-1's Semmy Shcilt could be a decent psuedo Klitschko?

I remember he knocked Matt Skelton out cold in K-1.

Exactly, that's why even the CW division shouldn't exist, just raise the LHW limit to 185 and everything above is a HW, go back to the old days. Size only matters to a point, if it's a skilled fighter, size doesn't matter. Case and point (just recent fights) - Tye Fields vs Barrett, Chagaev vs Valuev, Ibragimov vs Briggs, Chambers vs Dimitrenko, in each case the smaller guy was at least 6" shorter and gave away at least 40 pounds yet they easily beat the bigger guy.

Hey, what is Virchis doing stealing Lennox Lewis's gig? He's the guy who is always trying to teach someone to "beat the Klitschkos."
