Cotto's my dude, but I think prime for prime Vernon would be a bad matchup for Cotto.

      Forrest by KO
too tall and rangy for Cotto
use jabs and drop long right hands on Cotto all night
Cotto doesn't last beyond 8 rounds

forrrest is all wrong for cotto. he was all wrong for a lot of boxers at 147 lbs, that's why they all ducked him.

forrest is too tall for cotto and too rangy. his jab would keep cotto on the outside where cotto's right hand and left hook would become a non-factor. I see forrest's right hand raining down pain on cotto. even if cotto go inside on forrest, he'd get a fist full of uppercuts.

in his prime, forrest can go 12 rounds easy. even in cotto's prime, he gassed.

not a good fight for cotto. guarantee that cotto would lose. if cotto decides to run, he'll go the distance. if cotto decides to force the issue and fight he might get KTFO.

Cotto does good against his style(boxer) Cotto wears him down and stops him. Forrest was never the most durable fighter. I think miguel stops him late
