What boxing needs the most is new and young promoters

ODH/Mayweather did a record buyrate just 4 years ago, it was so successful that people were saying it would lead to a resurgence in boxing. It didn't! No dream fight, 24/7, heavyweight superstar, etc, will. Only thing that will help boxing is new management at the top.

Of all the suggestions made about what will help boxing, this one seems to get over looked the most. To me boxing needs a lot of changes, the top boxing promoters have been running the sport for 5 decades now. They don't have the best interest of sport in mind when making fights and they are behind the times in how they promote fights. I know wrestling isn't really a sport but wrestling only got big nationally when a young Vince McMahon ate up all the older promoters who refused to change with the times. Are there any new promoters out there in boxing right now who could eat up the older generation of promoters?

I partially agree, promoters need to be more accessible. Their Ego/Greed keeps good fights from being made.

On top of better promotions, boxing organizations needs to be restructured. Too many ABC belts. At any given time you can have 5 different individuals claiming to be champions in one weight class.

It doesn't need young promoters. It needs real promoters.

It needs promoters to stop depending on TV money to make fights.

And, when they do get site fee and/or TV money they need to put it in the promotion as in build boards, commercials, radio play, advertisement not pocket it.

I liked TKO promotions but they seem to be in some kind of trouble. I do like what fight prize does. They're doing OK in building up Guerrero and Porter. Matter of fact Guerrero is even a little bit of a draw. So they're building that fan base nice.

Also it needs promoters need to build up a regional fan base for their fighters. A lot of people complain about Ward but not only do I like the way he was brought up(off TV until he was ready for the big time) but was set up with a solid fan base in Oakland.

More promoters need to do stuff like that. Young or old it don't matter.
