Margarito has been through harsh times but please, whatever you do don't forget this one thing:

His punches should be solid by now.

This guy knows boxing right here!!
He was off for a whole year and did not look great, That i believe was normal, then he fought Pacquiao who is arguably the number two fighter P4P, Lets see how Margs looks like after he beats Cotto to pulp again. People are gonna say," I knew Margs was still game but it was that long suspension that hurt him" WAR MARGARITO

And yes I agree that anything can happen, but Cotto has never been careless to ever get KTFO, and lets be clear people, that'll b the only way Mayorga wins the fight...
I do think that Cotto has great boxing skill, he's quick on his feet, can counter well and works the jab very well when needed, but his entire career IMHO he's had a flawed D and has taken a lot of punishment because of it. He was able to handle a fighters power at 140, at 147 he was getting broken down, and IMHO at 154 he's might get stopped or KO'd. I respect Cotto a lot, he's a warrior til the end, but it's his D that has kept him losing against top notch opponents.

he does everything fundamentally sound but to me it doesn't make for an excellent boxer

              agree to disagree I guess

He proved that in the Margarito fight, Cotto is not nearly as effective going backwards as he is going forward.

A great boxer would be a guy like Tommy Hearns or Lennox Lewis who could take a step back and be just as effective.

It's to be expected, he suffered grevious bodily harm in 2 fights and now 3. I wouldn't exactly expect someone to be the same after getting ran over by a car or beaten senseless by a group of thugs.

All things considered people would be out of 5 clean punches could fck someone's **** up in a street fight, granted they don't wear gloves, the fact that Margarito took 100s from trainer punches make that fact irrelevant.

Tony is not the same WITHOUT plaster. Cut the BS about "wars" he's been in. Cotto was the first to tax that ass with bombs in the first six rounds, Mosley finished the job, and Manny basically sodomized Margarito in the ring.

                    True story.
Agree, its funny how cheato's followers are now starting to make excuses because their battered brain just realized... No Plaster=No Power. End of story
