I'm just curious what you think he gave a better performance in? I've seen most of his joints, though I haven't seen The Machinist yet. I was most impressed by his work in this film.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture: Melissa Leo for The Fighter.

The Fighter picks up another one.

I normally can't stand being in a room full of idiots at a theater, but I might actually go watch this.

During the week, matinee, when nobody's there but me.

          The Machinist
          American Psycho
          Rescue Dawn

He was just as good in Batman Begins and Swing Kids.

That's not to say his performance in The Fighter wasn't good, it's one of his bests, but just because he was recognised with an award for his role, doesn't mean it's any better than the previous roles he's been in.

Films are meant to be viewed by the individual. If I ever go with a friend, I have them sit a seat away from me, or in another row altogether.
