Berto's got a pretty good resume for a 27 year old. Undefeated champ, Collazo UD12, Urango UD12, Quintana TKO8, and now the rumored Ortiz fight.

Boxing is getting ridiculous. How did Lamont Peterson get in the mix
for a fight with Kahn after fighting Ortiz to a draw? Berto should be
stripped. Never saw a fighter hold a title for so long without fighting
      their mandatories.

i don't know why people are *****ing. ortiz is a huge 140'er. I love this fight. I think Berto wins, but Ortiz has some real power and good technique, and above average foot and hand speed. at 147 he might be more hydrated and energized. Of course I'd rather see Berto fight the Cotto's, Kirklands, Pac's, May's, Sergio, et al. BUT, this is Berto's toughest fight to date IMO.

I said in another thread that the fight is not bad but Berto should have
atleast had a couple of fights at 147 against legit guys before taking
on Ortiz. Seems like he is trying to fight an easy opponent. If the fight
does get made I would like to see Ortiz put Berto out.

this fight sounds good, especially compared to what both of them were doing before. both are looking to be big names, hopefully this fight can be a stepping stone for one of them. kermit sucks, and he'll be there if berto wants him later, and ortiz can make the weight easily, so i don't see why not. this fight will be good for what it lasts. hopefully, this fight gets signed...

grustler i agree. it'd be nice to see berto get laid out and have to work his way back up. haha it'd be funny if he got relegated to FNF like arreola. i seriously think this is ortiz's last opportunity to impress on HBO. If he loses, he better look damn good losing, or it's FNF for him. If he wins, he's right back where he should have been.

hopefully after the peterson fight ortiz learned that he is a boxer/puncher, not boxer. although he has the speed and skills, he operates better, and takes advantage of his strengths better, when he is being more aggressive and not fighting off the back foot for 2:40 of every round. maybe 50/50 and he'd be perfect. like i said his speed is not to be under rated.

Berto's biggest credential is names dropping top fighters, pitty he likes taking steps back in his career and fighting the likes of Freddie Hernandez.

i doubt ortiz can hang with the welters right now but it's a step up for berto if he did fight him
