As far as a resurgence with HBO and Showtime I think you are right. I didn't follow boxing closely except for the last 3 years of show because there was no chance of my parents buying those channels when I was a kid. Like most sports kids are exposed to them at a young age and that's when they fall in love with it and become a fan for life. I'm the exception not the rule when it comes to boxing fans as I came to it later in life.

I'm curious as to where you heard rumors of the Super Six semi's on CBS? I follow boxing on TV type stuff pretty closely and I've heard nothing about that. Froch-Johnson on CBS could gain a bunch of new fans I think.
I heard that when the SuperSix first launched since CBS owns Showtime or something in the beginning press releases when the tourney was first announced

Boxing once a month on 1 mainstream cable network would do a hell of alot for the sport, not big stars necessarily even since they would ask for too much $$$ for that to be possible but just regulars from ESPN who put on good fights would be a worthwhile investment for the networks.

I think a casual fan would rather watch a guy like Daniel Eduard who always brings it win or lose than Floyd easily pot shot an opponent to a noncompetitive UD.

It would really help if ESPN, HBO and Showtime replaced the biased, negative commentator/analysts who turn away casual fans.

Teddy Atlas should be replaced by BJ Flores or Sergio Mora, Max Kellerman should be replaced by John Skully or Bernard Hopkins, and Showtime should let Al Bernstein and the gay-sounding Steve Farhood go and let Antonio Tarver have a more prominent role as commentator/analyst.

Boxers and ex-boxers have more insight into what's going on in a fight than these phony so-called "experts".

(The blow-by-blow commentators are very good though - Joe Tessitore, Bob Papa, Jim Lampley and Steve Albert).

Also Ross Greenburg and Ken Hershman have too much power in deciding who fights who.

Ken Hershman is one of the few helping to make the best fights right about now though...he's cool...

Boxers just need to be promoted more....people don't know who half the boxers are....

I know more people who are familiar with MMA fighters than boxers...

Can we just move on from the constant doom and gloom that always takes places when we talk boxing?

Just accept it for what it is, ***** and all. And don't start with the UFC crap, a slightly more popular niche sport (in the US) is the last thing that boxing needs to worry about.
