ricky burns vs joseph laryea in march

WBO super-featherweight title fight set for march

seems another straight forward defence for burns who should make some good £££ before probably taking on the winner of cruz vs perez who are fighting in an elimination bout.

    laryea is 14-4 11 kos

personally being from scotland i thought burns would fight someone better but i think his team are getting a few defences in before taking the harder fights and a possible unification fight with fana from south africa

      excuse me mate

burns beat martinez fair and square last year and because burns was the no1 contender he then has a year to fight the new wbo number 1 contender

martinez might not want the fight as he has been talking about moving up in weight

cruz is a big puncher and i expect him to beat perez but he will not ko burns and if the fight is in scotland i expect he will go the same way as martinez

      burns on points

he was lucky????.....he didnt look lucky to me

cruz hasnt been tested yet , perez is his first test

and you do understand that burns can fight who he wants in the wbo top 15 until september because thats when he must meet his mandatory for

look im not looking for an argument but if you check my original post i said that i expected burns to fight a better opponent.

he is doing what other champions have been doing for years , even look at your countryman martinez - he fought a few guys that were considered easy fight,

ps: id love to see a re-match as i was a fight of the year contender

I agree that Cruz whoops Burns... But give it a break with the rest, Burns beat Martinez fair and square and would do so again in a rematch. Martinez just ain't good enough to beat Burns.

OT: This is a ****ty defence, hopefully Burns won't take the typical euro route by staying at home defending his title for as long as possible against bums. laryea has a record of 14-4... it's a joke. Burns better step up and fight that Mzonke Fana guy or Luis Cruz after this.

True but Martinez went to England to win the title and then went to Burns's backyard in Scotland to defend it. Are we gonna see Burns go to Puerto Rico and defend against Luis Cruz if he becomes the mandatory? I doubt it.
