The animations for punching are a lot smoother. How Hearns threw his jab and right hand looked just like him. The game play looks a lot smoother now and there weren't any awkward animations for punching.

However, my concern is the footwork. It does look better than FNR4, but Hearns on the backfoot looked a bit stiff. It just doesn't look natural like the punching does. The footwork in Boxer's Road 2 is much better.

I still need to see more of the footwork. The game looks solid though

I agree with this. I'm glad they released this video because it looks very good.

As for the footwork, let's see a video with pacquiao or sugar ray leonard or people who really use their footwork well. I would guess haglers footswork isn't the fastest in the game nor with hearns, so that could be a factor.

Pacquiao was pretty much useless in FN4 because a) his footwork ****** and two and b). his short arms/height it was just too hard to be effective w/o being fast on your feet. They definitely need to improve this area.

It's not just the speed of the footwork, it's how you can move and position yourself. Take Pacquiao for example, you know how he dips down after he throws a right hook and then spins off to the side? You can't do that in fight night round 4. You can do it in Boxer's Road 2, but not in round 4.

I know what you mean but I doubt we'll get that yet so I'd be satisfied with just the fluid/fast footwork of that of fight night round 2.

on FN2, if you had a fighter with good footwork, you want to stay on the outside the entire fight? done, you could do that if you want. On FN4 you really cant do it, you're pretty much forced into slug fests at some point of the round.

boxer's road 2 came out in 07 and it's used the footwork of Victorious Boxers, which came out in 01. If a boxing game from 2001 has better footwork from a game in 2011, then EA needs to figure out how to incorporate the same elements.

different game engines and **** though. There are a lot of things that the fight night series can do that previous games couldn't do as well.

but yeah to me that seems like the last remaining area they really need to tackle. Other than that it's a matter of how to incorporate things like punching from the guard, a more dynamic inside game, etc.

they're not going to put effort into implementing footwork since EA only wants you to cream over their super important upper body muscle physics. just take a look at how the default camera is set up. it's like going to a 3D movie these days... the story is usually shit and or basic, it's all trivial eye candy.

                    ... 2 more years.

See this is the only beef I have with these guys.

I still haven't figured out why they need 2 years between releases, since everything they improved on can be done within a year (easily).

Waiting two years is a complete waste.
