I don't know when or why exactly, but they were referring to hopkins as the WBC emeritus champion prior to the pascal fight.
    WORLD BOXING COUNCIL NEWS

    December 15, 2010 – Mexico City.

From the office of WBC President Dr. José Sulaimán:

WBC President José Sulaimán will be in Quebec City to personally present the WBC Diamond Belt to the winner of the WBC light heavyweight world championship fight between defending champion Jean Pascal and WBC Emeritus champion Bernard Hopkins on December 18.

They also just made Sergio Martinez emeritus champ, which is even more of a head scratcher

Hopkins has never even won the WBC Title.

Plus hes getting a rematch "ordered". Wtf?

I don't understand the Emeritus stuff at all, especially considering they made him that prior to the pascal fight, however I don't understand the problem with a rematch being ordered for the pascal fight it was a controversial draw and most people want to see a rematch. The WBC is the most ******ed organization by far on the planet but I wish they would order rematches like this more often where there are draws or disputed decisions.

Yep, there were far worse decisions than Pascal-Hopkins

oh absolutely. Comparing to many of the other bad decisions over the years this was definitely one of the better ones by far.

Still I like what they are doing here, it's just too bad this won't be the precedent for the WBC and we all know they'll continue to be the fucktards that they are.
