Fight golovkin. That is a great matchup. It can even take place in russia. The winner of that one should face martinez. Sturm would never fight pirog.

It's a TBA in less than two months. Which means they will probably find a softy for him to beat up while he's waiting for something good. I'm just glad Pirog is back and hope he gets a good fight by the end of the year.

Problem is, I'm not sure Pirog is big money, yet, for Martinez. Golovkin would be a great fight but his promoters have set him up with one weak fight after another. Guys like Sturm, Sylvester and Zbik wouldn't go within 10,000 miles of a big-hitter like Pirog because his right hand would negate their hometown scoring advantage in Germany.

That's what all young champions say. Then they have subsequent disappointing title defenses against mediocre opposition.

Fuck yeah, do this. Sturm won't fight either of them, and I doubt Martinez will at the minute either.

right, he has a date, but no opponent. that means he has no fight scheduled in my book.

He has no forseeable fight. It's great to say you want to fight the best in a division (and Felix Sturm is DEFINITELY not among the best at MW), but Dmitry needs to get off his a$$ and capitalize off some of his momentum/buzz he built with his impressive blasting of Danny Jacobs.
cant blame the guy, he is a nameless talent that cant get a fight in the usa... martinez wanted no part of pirog... pirog is a slick boxer with no name recognition... tough sell for any promotor.

i just want to see pirog stay busy with defenses and stir things up enough to get attention in the usa.

If I was Martinez, I'd fight Pirog if he did something meaningful. Otherwise, I'd keep avoiding him. If I put myself in Sergio's shoes if I did decide to fight Pirog, I wouldn't pay the sanctioning fee for his belt because of it being Sergio's to begin with. But I want the fight to happen. Pirog and Golovkin need to fight each other in my view so we can see who deserves the shot at Martinez the most.
