He wanted to test the waters??? Wernt *******s the ones bitching about 1lb from his last weigh in not making one bit of a fucking difference? So Pac wanted to test the waters at welterweight based on 1lb......suuuuuure. Either that or Pac was just that bored....or he wanted to have that slight advantage of neglecting Cotto the freedom to come in at 147, which is the theory that im going to go with. Served Pac well because the Cotto that fought Pac is slightly smaller than in his other welerweight fights I dare you to compare pictures.
Why Do You Think Pac Fought Clottey @ 147, But Made Cotto Fight At 145?

Because you don't know **** about boxing. If you did than you would know who wanted the fight at 145.Comment

Cotto was just Manny's 2nd fight at that division. Yes he beat Oscar but he also went back down to 138 to fight Hatton in his next fight. Also, Manny was at 130, just a few fights before that fight. Lots of questions, lots of uncertainties.
Plus, there is always that question that was Manny's first win due to Manny's performance or Oscar's non-performance.
Finally, Manny's team saw that even with Oscar, Manny can't get up to 147. So that is why the 145. In retrospect, it should have been at 147.
From what I saw of the fight, even if Cotto had those extra 2lbs (only 1lb from his previous fight) it wouldn't have made much of a difference.
Since that 2nd fight at 145, Manny has gone with Cottey and supposedly, Mosley at 147.Comment

Easy question - because he had more respect for Cotto so needed an advantage, even if it was a minor one.Comment

The thread didnt ask if Cotto came in at 147 would the outcome be different. The question is why ask Cotto to come in at 145 and not Clottey and the answer is Clottey could barely make 147 and Roach knew that.Comment
