not because tito KOed vargas, maravilla can duplicate it..

i understand maravilla is currently on a good win streak but let us not act as if vargas is just an average belt holder..

Prime Vargas would have stomed through Martinez. Martinez is good don't get me wrong but he didn't become a complete fight until the advanced stages of his career. Vargas threw an assortement of punches i.e. hooks uppercuts and jabs and Martinez w/his hands down would have been in for it with the Aztec Warrior!!

Vargas would kick the crap out of Sergio Martinez.Vargas was the superior, more versatile fighter of the two.Just like he did with Raul Marquez,Vargas would be smashing Martinez's face with right hand leads for as long as the fight lasts.

Vargas at his peak wasn't some slow plodding fighter that you tee off on.He had excellent footwork, fought using angles, was an fluid combination puncher, and, when he used it with real consistency,an excellent jab.

"El Feroz" is indeed a very underrated fighter these days.People either don't know,or just forget how good he was until the Trinidad fight.

Vargas would beat Martinez by UD.

Watching Vargas' fights post Trinidad won't do much justice for how good he was. And he was even worse after the De La Hoya fight.

In the Quartey fight, Vargas really schooled the much more experienced fighter and fought very intelligently. Quartey gave Vargas a little trouble in the early rounds, but he was able to make the right adjustments and maintain control of the fight. He really showed that he could box as well as he can punch.

I have yet to see Martinez show that kind of ring generalship. His style looks great against come forward fighters with subpar footwork, but he makes enough mistakes which won't do much good against a more skillful boxer (and puncher) in Vargas, who had a great variety of punches and threw effective combinations.
