Comments Thread For: Arum: Pacquiao-Marquez, Chavez-Alvarez Not Likely

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum doesn't see a third fight taking place between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. He doesn't view money as the real problem. The problem Arum predicts will have to do with weight. Manny Pacquiao has been fighting at welterweight since 2008. Marquez has been fighting at lightweight and below for a nearly his entire career. He blew up to welterweight for a bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2008 and was beaten soundly for twelve rounds. After the Mayweather loss he returned to lightweight.

The only reason Arum doesn't want to have Pacquiao-JMM III and Alvarez-Chavez Jr is because theyre both from GBP and not from his own stable.

Even though Pacquiao is a 147 pounder, he is so good he can beat Marquez, Chavez and Alvarez at their natural weight on the SAME NIGHT!

Good...peeman wine to much. If Pqcquiao was a muthaFker, he'd wear a t-shirt that say,'Marquez Drink Urine'.

pacquiao only weighed 144 in his last fight. give me a break they will find any excuse not to fight marquez. first it was he a fight with him wouldnt sell enough ppv's. then they wanted him to fight at 147 when manny can barely make that weight. then he overpriced himself. roach and that other ****(the conditioning coach) keep saying they want the fight but i never hear manny say ****. i think manny will probably beat marquez at this point but i think marquez has enough in the tank to make it a good fight(better than his last 6 fights).

After the Margarito/Pac fight, when a possible JMM/Pac III fight was first mentioned..... Arum immediately stated that the fight must take place at 147.

There was no talk of money, and there was absolutely no talk of "JMM must prove himself".

                Marquez immediately accepted 147.

                Arum immediately switched to money.

Then, when it was publicly announced that Shane would be Manny's next opponent, and that he would be paid more than Marquez asked for, Arum immediately switched tack again and stated that Marquez must prove himself against Berto.

At least Arum will now admit that Manny doesn't want a piece of Marquez.

They will milk the Manny-cow until it is dry, and then feed it to Mayweather...
as has been the plan since early 2008.

i think manny needs to drop this ****** misplaced loyalty to arum and konz.

he should go solo and promote himself and his own fighters.

                  he can fight marqeuz.

                  the limit is 147.

manny weighed 145 for marigarito, and 148 on fight night.

marquez weighed 145 on the night of the fight vs katdisis.

so no reason why marquez cant make 145 for the weight in for a pac fight, and weigh about that on the night.

and pac weigh 145 for weigh in,and 147 on the night.

but i do think pac will be too big,to strong,to improved, marquez will get blasted if pac fights smart.

i think with time, when alverez is older,he will outgrow welterweight and light middle,he could when about 23 possibly fight at middleweight.

no reason alverex vs chavez jnr doesnt happen within about 2-5 years time.

if they both continue to rise above the ranks.

if marquez really reallly wanted to fight pac,he would leave golden boy to help chances of getting that fight.
