Comments Thread For: Khan vs McCloskey a Possibility For April 16 Clash?

EBU light welterweight title-holder Paul McCloskey (22-0, 12KOs) believes that he could be in line for a shot at WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan - if the champion fails to reach a deal with once-beaten contender Lamont Peterson.

He should fight matthysse instead. That would be a great fight.

          First I heard of him.

Khan has only talked Bradley-Alex winner, Judah, Peterson, Maywetaher and maybe Ortiz in the future in my books.

paul is a irish fighter ranked number 2 at 140 in england, easy decent payday for khan and staying active

every great fighter has fought a paul mccloskey in there career while trying to become the best... leonard, tyson, duran etc etc .. and not just on they way to a title

I like this matchup...Paul is undefeated and pretty fast himself...I don't believe he'll win but this is not a bad matchup at all....I believe Paul can beat the mabuza's and the mathysse's of the world...soo yeah this isn't bad but I still rather see Peterson in there

I think Khan-Peterson will still happen. This whole Paul McCloskey issue was only bought by "Saj" the friend of Amir Khan after he'd mentioned the money issue in negotiations.

Paul was amongst the followers I believe and obviously entertained the idea.

If for whatever reason (most likely money) the Khan-Peterson fight does not take place, this is still a good fight for Khan. Who gives a **** if the Americans know of him or not, he's known in the UK, you know where the fight is taking place, he's ranked high by the WBA in the UK, is undefeated and would bring a bigger crowd than Peterson could for obvious reasons, both being from the UK that is.

But again, I do think the Peterson fight will happen and he just tried his luck by asking for big money, and why not? He'll be negotiated down from that and we'll get to see them fight in April

Decent fighter, seen him fight a couple times. European champion. Pretty standard. But he's a top-10 ranked LWW and undefeated, so it'll be a decent win for Khan. He'll be a better win than Salita.
