Your statement is true, but since when is a superfight determined by a fighters popularity? Manny is the best/most popular fighter in the world, but look at his last 2 "superfights." Even manny aside, every "superfight" lately has bombed in terms of excitement. This is a fight between two of the best YOUNG fighters at 140, and they are unifying the division. I would take this HBO championship bout over any "superfight" between the most popular fighters out there today. This isn't a popularity contest.Comment

it's not a superfight, its a unification fight.
superfights are few and far between . hell, pwilly v sergio wasn't even a superfight. there were no suprfights last year.Comment

No any two fighters who are coming off victories doesnt equal a super fight. A superfight is when 2 fighters who are clearly the best in or around their weight classes go at it in their primes. After watching Alexander i dont think he is on that level no matter what hype train is behind him.Comment

I think we are talking fighters such as Mosley. He is heading into a "superfight" coming off of a loss and a draw. Plus, his last victory was 2 years ago. This is the type of superfight we need in boxing.Comment

I agree, First time I saw Alexander fight he Ko'd Juan Urango. Having said that It looked like Urango's pressure was getting to him and going to turn the fight until he landed that uppercut.
Second time I saw him fight kotelnik looked like a bad decision.Comment

A super fight is reserved for the most anticipated fights in boxing. If Martinez-Williams II wasn't a super fight, this can't be either. Pacquiao-Mayweather and Haye vs. Klitschko are the only superfights at the moment. The winner vs. Khan would be pretty close to a superfight, but this is not, it's just one of the best fights that can be made in the sport. That's good enough for me.Comment
