Wasn't Hector Camacho a free agent?

I'm asking this because GBP came down on Mosley for being a free agent like he did something forbidden or unheard of. Sticking to only one promotions fighters as we've seen GBP and Top Rank have just resulted in seperate leagues and it cripples boxing. Didn't Hector Camacho never stick with one promoter and just cooperate with different promoters to make fights?

No GBP didn't comedown at Mosley for being a free agent. They came down on him cuz' they felt some type of disloyalty. Just like Arum came down on Oscar and Floyd and would come down on Pac if he ever decides to leave Top Rank.

And, lets say that yes Camacho was a free agent so what? What is the point? Where is the connection with Camacho, GBP, and/or Mosley?

I didn't fully understand it. Thanks for enlightening me though. But if he broke contract with GBP wouldn't they sue his ass off get most of his purse from the Pacquiao fight anyway? Thepoint I was trying to make if thats not the case why aren't more fighters doing that so we can have more fights and not just in-house fights? The Cotto-Mayorga card is the first promotional collabo that I've seen top rank do for a while.

Because, I don't think he's contract with GBP was as a boxer. If I'm not mistaken it was more as a part owner. They didn't have any rights to Mosley as a fighters. But, they sent him a $1,000 check to buy back the shares he owns in the company or what have you.

A lot of fighters can't do it cuz' they don't have the resources nor the popularity or name to go out and be on their own. Guys like Oscar, Mosley, Hopkins, Jones, Pac, Floyd, even Cotto. Have/had the name recognition and popularity to go on their own.

But, the lower level guys like a Berto, Bradley, Martinez so on and so on don't have that just yet so it will be harder for them to make it on their own.

And, again if I'm not mistaken just a few months ago TR did Juanma/Rafa and that was not in house. I don't think/remember Rafa being part of TR. And, even now they're talking about Caba-Litzau and that is not in-house I don't think.

People look at the big names with Top Rank and think they just do in house fights all the time but in reality they do just as much as the other major promoter(GBP) does in-house fights. Look at GBP big name JMM, his last 5 fights have been in-house fights but people like to ignore stuff like that.

I for one don't care if it is in-house fights or not. As long as it is the best fight that can be made then that is all that matters. In-house fight or not Pac-Mosley/Cotto-Mayorga are not the best that could have been made.
