According to sources in German Titov Promotions, WBO middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog (17-0, 14 KOs) will conduct the first defense of the title, he won against Daniel Jacobs last July, on March 11 at DIVS palace of sports in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Pirog’s opponent is yet to be defined.

Disappointing he couldn't get a bigger fight on HBO sooner, especially Martinez, but at least he gets to have his first title defense in front of his home town fans in Russia.

Hopefully HBO gives him a big fight around May.

Good to see Pirog's finally going to fight instead of wasting his prime waiting for Greenburg to allow him back on HBO.

I'm hoping the talented heavyweight Glazkov will step up to a higher level of opposition on that date.

Screw HBO, there will be a handful of live internet streams showing that fight. Pirog SHOULD make his first defense in his home country, it's the least he should do, he traveled to another hemisphere to earn his name, now he should bank it, and get paid in Euros too, not dollars.

Adamek is providing the blueprint on how to make money and build a fansbase on both sides ofthe pond without the help of HBO. Showtime is stepping up, ESPN is stepping up big time too. The Germans, Brits, Aussies, hell even Italians and the French have been steadily building up a strong following in their countries as of late. They should force Pavlik to go over there for a title shot.

Good to finally have Pirog back and good that he gets to fight at home, but hate the TBA opponent. All too often that means they sign a low-level opponent a month before the fight to make the local guy look good. Hope that's not the case here and he at least gets somebody in the top 25. Also hope they get him in with one of the other beltholders by the end of the year.

Pirog should be fighting golovkin. It's time to start putting these middleweights against each other. They both want to fight in eurasia.....well here's your fight.
