    Ruiz Fires Don King

    Source: **********.com

Ruiz attempting to break away from DKP

    By Scott Shaffer

September 01, 2005 - WBA heavyweight titlist John Ruiz has reportedly retained a law firm and sent promoter Don King notice that he has terminated their relationship. Sources who have seen the letter informed ********** that in addition to cancelling their promotional relationship, the letter claims that King owes Ruiz at least $8.8 million dollars. The letter calculated that figure from King's alleged failure to provide Ruiz with the proper number of bouts called for under the contract, to pay Ruiz his minimum purses and training expenses and for fraudulent misrepesentations in connection with Ruiz's win over Fres Oquendo. Ruiz lost his last bout to James Toney, but was reinstated as the WBA champion when Toney tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. Phone calls to longtime Ruiz co-manager Tony Cardinale were not immediately returned. Remember where you heard it first!!

      Oquendo already left him, too

I know Don rips his fighters off, but I don't know how many promoters are rushing to their phones right now to contact The Quiet Man...

What a ****** move by Ruiz!
King is the only thing that kept him and Byrd their titles!
Lets see to either one can hang on to their title w/o King!

This is where Manny_P would say "nyahahahahaha"

I hope more people leave King, I blame him for boxings lack of popularity, forcing bad ppv fights

I hate Ruiz and his ****face trainer but I have to give him credit for this move. Hopefully more will follow and Don King is seen and heard from less and less.
