I have opined before that hatton only ever 'fought the best' because the reward outweighed the risk. With Witter I suspect he thought he could have lost and ran from a possible fight as a result, but yet called himself 'the man' in the division.

I don't for a second believe Ricky Hatton was scared of fighting Witter.

Witter slagged Ricky off so much that he didn't want to give him the biggest payday of his life.

Witter called Ricky out plenty of times, and even offered to fight Ricky for free:



Witter was WBC champ for nearly two years, before that they were both fighting on the domestic scene. Ricky took shítty fights against people like Maussa, Lazcano and shot Castillo. Each one of those times would have been ideal to get it on with Witter instead.

It's a blatant duck because Witter called him out and Ricky didn't respond.

I hope Witter takes a fight with Matt Hatton and embarrasses him something silly.
