Comments Thread For: Gilberto Keb Baas-Jose Antonio Aguirre on February 5

Gilberto Keb Baas (34-20, 21KOs) will make his first ring appearance since winning the WBC junior flyweight title with a huge upset over Omar Nino last November. Baas will face Jose Antonio Aguirre (34-9, 20KOs) on February 5 at Poliforum Zamna of Merida. Baas made noise last year when he dropped Nino twice to earn a twelve round majority decision. It was an ironic twist, since Baas was the same man who knocked out a young, unbeaten 14-0 Omar Nino in 1998.

This is a horrible title defense. The 35-year-old Aguirre has lost four in a row, seven of his last eight and hasn't won a fight of any kind since August 2006. How can this possibly be sanctioned?

This is a good example of the old adage that " styles make fights ". Nino has beaten better oposition than Gilberto Keb but for some reason, he´s lost to him twice!!! BY the way, Gilberto Keb is from Yucatan, an area way south, next to Cuba and central America that has produced like 6 or 7 world champions.
