Comments Thread For: Alexander-Bradley To Get a Major Push From HBO

The upcoming junior welterweight unification, between unbeaten champions Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander, was called "a signature fight" by HBO's President of Sports Ross Greenburg. Alexander (21-0, 13 KOs) from St. Louis, Mo. will face Bradley (26-0, 11 KOs) from Palm Springs, Calif., on January 29 at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Mich. HBO is planning a major marketing campaign for the fight.

I noticed this aswell. They're having a face off and everything from greatest hits to special made promos just for YouTube.

Good, boxingscene is also doing a great job putting this fight out there, Before a fight like this might have slipped under the radar but i hope this fight is the start of things for 2011 and boxing altogether.

I know this two arent the biggest name in boxing right now but the exposure should do them greatly, But hope they dont turn into divas the moment they get all the exposure they want.

HBO is certainly doing a great job but they should of done a countdown. Advertising for the fight in the Detroit area is so much stronger than what it was for Dirrell/Abraham. There has been commercials on t.v., ads in both newspapers, and for a long time on one of the two major sports talk radio stations they had a commercial run every other commercial break and is still being played on a few rap stations here. If Dirrell/Abraham got 5,000 people I wouldn't be shocked if this fight does fill the 15,000 seats that it has been scaled down to. People spent all day ****ting on the Detroit venue but it may turn out to be the largest crowd in America to watch boxing outside of a Pacquaio, Cotto, or Mayweather fights.

Detroit is one of the cities that boxing needs to be revived in. This is one of the proudest sports cities and also one of the richest areas in boxing tradition. More fights need to come here and other cities outside of the normal to revive the sport.

This is what needs to happen all the time.HBO needs to take their company off of unworthy ppv's completely though.
