Comments Thread For: Atlas Declares War on Sauerland over Povetkin's Career

Trainer-commentator Teddy Atlas has put Alexander Povetkin's promoter Kalle Sauerland on blast, labeling Wilfried Sauerland's son as a spoiled rich kid ("a wolf in sheep's clothing") and telling Bokser.org in a video interview that he may be done training fighters completely.

Teddy went psycho after Donnie LaLonde fired him and took a gun to LaLonde's apartment with intentions of murdering him.

    Hopefully he won't shoot Povetkin.

Atlas is a total creep, but after what Sauerland did in Sylvester-Karmazin and Huck-Lebedev, I am more and more convinced they are, like Universum, the new Mob of boxing. Like Frankie Carbo in the U.S. during the '50s, only considered a little more "legit."

Another training job for Atlas that ends badly.

One of the most overrated trainers ever.

I think Atlas has one of the best insights into the fight game, as evidenced by his expert commentary on FNF's. When I watch a fight he's calling, he always points out things that an average boxing fan might not see. I'm surprised with all his experience and knowledge that he can't cut it as a trainer...

Atlas always speaks out and criticizes when fighters are fed soft opposition midway through their respective careers. Yet, that is in fact the case with what he's doing with Povetkin. Since he's been with Povetkin, Alexander has only fought journeyman and has not faced any credible contenders. I think that this has done a disservice to Povetkin and has affected his confidence.

As for your post, yes, Povetkin needs to step up his game in his next fight...
