BTW I wonder how that would work? I know College Football gets 3-4 hours, College Basketball gets two etc......but if this did go down, would Arum get enough time for the whole card, just the main event or maybe 2 fights and the main event.
If its on primetime, it will probably be just the main event.. Maybe they can do a split, Showtime will carry the undercards, and the main event will be on CBS.

Financially its still feasible even if its not on PPV. Top Rank can offer Pac a big purse something between 15 to 25 million, and then Top Rank can make money through the license fee (US and Worldwide), live gate, and a small share of the advertising money.. CBS/Showtime can make a profit through advertising, and TV ratings... There's a lot of money to go around even if its on free TV..

I would love it. It's exactly what the sport needs. They could make up PPV sales in advertising revenue.

But it will probably not happen. When they say Showtime/CBS, they mean Showtime.

Showtime and CBS are the same company.

They would certainly do the PPV and marketing though since there is really little risk to it and only expands their brand. You would see a lot of commercials during the NFL playoffs on CBS if they went this route though and March madness.

god, wouldn't that be amazing? I'm sure it's all BS and it will be on HBO, but man that would be awesome. The only way this fight could be awesome again is if it was on free primetime TV.

But come to think of it.. If its on prime time, I am not sure if CBS will be willing to bump of CSI (Saturday 9pm) for this fight..

arum should make it cbs primetime even if pac and mosley have to take a hit in the profits. my only concern is that if mosley runs for his life it will be a boring fight and will turn off the viewers.

Will you guys stop to think for a minute...

CBS would show the countdown shows, not the fight, even Fat Dan said this.

No way that Top Rank turns down millions of dollars that would come from the PPV.

Btw, this posturing about CBS has been going on since Pac-Hatton was made and all the fights ended up on HBO anyway.

                      A) This man is correct, nothing but posturing by Top Rank to strong arm HBO and get back at them for bumping the Cotto-Mayorga fight for Martinez-TBA.

                      B) It wouldn't be on network TV, CBS just happens to own Showtime so it would be PPV still, just a different carrier.
