Trouble in Povetkin camp(Atlas might be gone soon)

In an explosive interview with Bokser.org, heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin’s trainer Teddy Atlas spoke about his experiences (and it sounds like he won’t be with Povetkin much longer)

Teddy seems genuinely upset about being removed from Povetkin's camp. I respect what he's saying about Sacha's fight with Klitschko.

It sounds like he was really trying to look out for the kid.

Excellent find, thanks for posting. A couple of things, I agree with Atlas on Saureland being a POS, especially for the Dirrell comments he made. But Altas is delusional if he thinks he somehow helped Povetkin by preventing the Klitschko fight. What an idiot, so he wants his fighter to risk his health for pennies when he could have had a retirement fight with Wlad? Ok, he is saying Saureland would have taken a large chunk of the $2.5 million Povetkin would have gotten but how does that logic make sense if Saureland is still taking a large chunk of the $50-$100K Povetkin is making off fights like Firtha? It's not like Povetkin is any better of now, he is still fighting, putting himself at risk against bums (he just hurt himself against Firtha) for no reward. At least Wlad would have paid him $2.5 million.

Povetkin dump Atlas, he is no good for you.

When I first heard Atlas would be training Povetkin, I thought:

          1) Atlas will ruin Povetkin, he despises good white boxers

          2) It will end on bad terms after a year or so, the same way it always does, as it ended with Grant, Briggs, LaLonde, etc.

Atlas is a nutcase. He actually went with a gun to Donny LaLonde's apartment with intentions of murdering him.

Atlas published his autobiography, Atlas: From the Streets to the Ring: A Son's Struggle to Become a Man, in 2006. The book covers many different periods of Atlas's life, and compares his position as trainer to a role as a father. Atlas confessed in the book that at one point he was so angry at Donny LaLonde he went to his home with a gun to kill LaLonde for firing him as manager

            No, he wasn't.

Povetkin didn't look good in his last fight with Firtha. He's obviously regressed from working with Teddy.

Atlas always comes on with that self-righteous BS, but in reality he only cares about himself and his public image.

He talks about Kelle Sauerland being a spoiled rich kid? Atlas is from a rich family himself, but he wasn't bright enough to make it through high school, and spent time in a juvenile detention center.

I'm no Atlas fan, but if he was only looking out for himself he'd have gladly taken his 15% or whatever from the Klitschko purse and let Povetkin go ahead with the fight, which he didnt.

That's 15% is actually not a lot of money to Teddy, who as an only son inherited $ millions from his wealthy father.

He was uncomfortable about being in the corner of a fighter being dominated by Wladimir Klitschko, who he despises and has been bashing since Wlad first fight on ESPN back in 1998.

It does seem that Povetkin has regressed since joining Atlas but from what he is saying here maybe he made some of those questionable decisions with Povetkins best interests at heart.
