Why agree a fight with Haye, then announce another fight?

The question just seems to begger an answer to me.

Why come through all those negotiation squabbles mostly put in place by him (perhaps to try to scrapper the deal earlier & blame Haye) and then without making Haye aware, suddenly announce fighting Chisora?

He had to know signing that would have the WBA stop Haye waiting until Wlad for a unification.

He had to have known it'd force Haye to sort a fight out very quickly for May, only to fight even less than the already ridiciulously short 8/9 weeks Wlad would be.

Also, Why would Wlad agree all these terms, and then sign this fight causing him to NOT BE ABLE TO SIGN TO FIGHT HAYE UNTIL AFTER APRIL??

The logical conclusion is, Wlad never wanted the fight. Screw him. Boxing won't even have a reason to mention his name once Haye retires.

it's not a duck persay but wlad's mindgames are potentially ruining the fight, so the blame for the fight not happening falls squarely on wlad's shoulders.

I don't understand it either. Wlad should just skip the Chisora fight. It makes no sense to have it.

yeah its some strange ****......... if wlad is confident of beating haye then why not chisora after haye? chisora's young in the game let him fight 1 or 2 good fighters between now and after haye-klitschko... he was dissing about shannon briggs why not do that....
But this kind of stinks of frank warren trying to get at david haye for some reason (maybe because he promotes himself, warrens got a history of trying to stifle fighters who have left him or promote themselves)... if warren wouldn't have come up with the ridiculous chisora fight ,and no doubt trying to put pressure on for it to happen before haye over the last few weeks, this fight could be happening. If frank warren is such a fan and historian of the sport ahe should come out and say haye-klitschko should happen first for the good of the sport... no doubt he wont though

Correct me if im wrong mate, and theres a good chance i am (all this on off ***** is hard to keep up with!)
but didnt they both agree on July 2nd? So the WBA must be ok with it. Wlad is taking a big gamble fighting so close but isnt it his right as champ and it wont effect haye coz haye will be in the same place regardless - fighting on July 2nd?

Yeah basically, that was the case based on that being both of they're next fight. Read the article and listen to the audio clip fella, made it clearer.

Wlad went away and suddenly signed for Chisora, saying Haye I'll still fight you 8 weeks later, I can't sign to fight you though, and you'll have to quickly fight someone too, to keep your belt.

Reason being, Haye was only able to duck a mandatory and be awarded this delay of July 2nd because it was a unification fight.

It seems with Wlad facing someone else and not being able to SIGN to fight Haye until after that fight (April) Haye cannot make that approach for a delay with the WBA. Afterall, he has no fight. Wlad has put himself in a position Wlad himself can't sign thus Haye would have to fight a mandatory and somehow hope 6ish weeks later Wlad would then somehow fight him.

I actually think when taken apart, it's a fairly blatant duck.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind Wlad and favour him. But it quite simply is. You would not do all this if you wanted the fight. Even now knowing its ruined it, he could scrap Chisora and sign for Haye as negotiated.

                  HE WON'T.

I think you probably have the best account of it. It may be that Wladimir is playing mind games or that he does not want the fight, but I do NOT think it is because he is afraid or worried he might lose. I do believe it is because he deplores haye to the depths of contempt.
