as a response to Marquez's calls for a trilogy, he's saying that it will be a
boring fight. "No one will watch it." As a fan who wants this trilogy more
than any other, I've wondered why he felt that way when he's been
beating big guys whom Marquez would never have dreamed of fighting.

You can interpret it as ducking or whatever, but he clearly dislikes Marquez.
And when he says it will be a boring fight he might have meant that Marquez
is too defensive a fighter that he will have hard time pleasing the crowd without his usual aggressive game to his peril. At least that's how I thought it was.

I'm thinking Pac "including" Marquez in choices was just to Fcuk with his mind while dropping him and offering roughly the same amount to Mosley after saying Marquez "priced himself out of the fight" and fighting a black fighter instead on a "Mexican" holiday for Mosley's possible biggest payday to date. I think they PURPOSELY wanted to screw with MArquez and never intended to fight him nor was he really a choice at this point.

If Marquez had showed signs of decline and or lost his last fight or two they would've taken him and made him move up to blow him out and have people "forget" the last two fights between Pac and Marquez.

Like Pac has said of Mayweather's OST request. "It's a mental thing". And I'm for sure they did it to screw with his mind as everyone knows they'd rather see the trilogy on Cinco de Mayo weekend rather than an older Mosley.

It may possibly wind up having some affects on Marquez future performances and negotiating with Pac. Also Marquez may have had one or two tougher fights by the time they do decide on a trilogy and by forcing Marquez up in weight and Pac "possibly" being on something as well as dismissing him from fighting for a big payday on a "Mexican" holiday may affect him and they'll be able to blow him out in a third match.

It's a chess game behind the scenes. The fight starts before it's announced.
