Hatton turns Tszyu down for Maussa?

    hursday, September 1 2005

By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing

IBF 140 pound champion Ricky Hatton will co-promote his first world title defense. It was reported recently that Hatton is not interetsed in giving Kostya Tszyu a rematch and now IBF world light-welterweight title holder Hatton is expected to take part in a unification bout against Colombia’s WBA champion Carlos Maussa in Sheffield Arena on November 26. But Hatton’s long-time promoter Warren insists he has a solid three-fight deal and has threatened legal action. Warren said, "Anybody who interferes with my contract with Ricky or tries to induce him to break it will be sued." Hatton’s company, called Punch Promotions, will challenge any legal moves by Warren.

No he wants to win belts and progress. You lot are selctive about your words to Hatton.

One minute your calling Tszyu a write off (too old or whatever), so why would Hatton want to fight a write off???? Would you fight someone who is considered a write off if your in the strong position that Hatton is in???

Then the next minute your criticising, Hatton, for turning down Tszyu and then CONSIDERING (Read: Considering not scheduling) a fight against Maussa.

How about you lot make your mind up and stop being biased against Hatton.

So what if he wants to "win belts and progress". Beating Maussa will not progress him at all. Tszyu was kind enough to give Hatton a title shot in his own backyard, and now Hatton won't give him a rematch in a fight that was close until the stoppage? If you don't see something wrong with that, it must be your presumptious British side coming out.

I never said Tszyu was shot, so you can pretty much null and void that argument. No one is biased against Hatton, he just needs to do the right thing. He did say he'd do a rematch, but whatever. I actually like Hatton. I was rooting for him to beat Tszyu.

I don't know about him being past his prime but he sure looked like it when he fought Hatton , They should do it again what is beating Maussa gonna prove? Nothing absolutely nothing and it is dangerous because Maussa has a brick head and fair power to say the least.

He's going to be Unificating two major belts (IBF & WBA) not to mention defeating a top contender, and getting this much closer to a fight with Mayweather to fully unify the titles, so please tell me how he isnt progressing?

If he were to rematch Tszyu he would beat him even worse, because now he would have even more confidence, and a stronger plan.

I'm sorry....but Tszyu doesn't even come close to deserving a rematch.

HE QUIT.....with one round to go !

He couldn't handle what Hatton was giving him, even though it was far from the worst beating you'll see !

I don't have any faith that Kostya Tszyu is going to give 100% against Ricky Hatton, in a rematch.
