I am not one of those pissed at Shane Mosley being the next fight for Manny Pacquiao. I'll be the first to say that Pacquiao deserves to pick his next fight. If critics believe that Mosley will be a walk in the park for Pacquiao... so be it. If it really is an easy fight... then what champ doesn't take and deserve an easy fight from time to time? Personally, we should all give Mosley a little more credit, as we all know he has some damn good skills and on any given night could prove a challenge to anyone.
I think critics and fans are more upset that the fight they really want next, Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. is not happening. I can understand the frustrations, but is it Pacquiao's fault? No. Look, as much as I like both fighters, lets be honest... Mayweather has taken himself out of the running (I am sure by now you've read all about his mounting legal problems.)
So if it's an easy fight (as some believe Pac vs Sugar will be), or one I feel will offer Pacquiao enough of a challenge to keep his skills sharp... Pacquiao deserves to pick who he wants next. In defense of Mosley and food for thought, some may recall that when Michael Moorer became Heayweight Champ, he took an easy fight against an aging George Foreman... and Moorer lost that fight. So easy fights don't always turn out to be as predicted. I personally think Mosley has more than enough to make this a serious gun battle between two pugilists.
Hell, if Mayweather hadn't basically taken himself out of the game... I'd be one of the angry ones feeling that Mosley should step back and Pacquiao should be aiming his target at Mayweather... but that is not happening.
Maybe, just maybe, for anyone angry at Pacquiao vs. Mosley... perhaps they should be blaming Floyd Mayweather. Just a thought.
