Was just thinking about various positives to Boxing having a legit commission.

I saw a discussion on another forum asking about multiple titles. We already have various weight divisions, and now in the modern era, more than the original 8 division. But we also have what is considered 3 major titles (in some cases, 4 if you include the WBO) as well as a slew of other "World" titles.

When sports fans think Football, they think Superbowl Champions. Baseball, World Series Champions. Even individual sports like Tennis, Wimbledon, French Open, U.S. Open & Australian Open. To win all 4 of those within the course of a year is considered a Grand Slam. Etc.

It just doesn't help that there is no "World Series" of boxing. I am not just talking about another event that the promotor names "Boxing World Series". I mean something definite and with meaning every year. Something to look forward to. Something like a month, say July, where the best fight the best. The champions fight each other or defend vs their top contender. Being that it would be during the summer, more people would be willing to attend the events. Bigger hype would surround it as the big Boxing Summer Series.

A month where the underlying purpose is to walk out of July knowing who the real champs are. With clarity of the best of each division. In the months leading up, there would be a series of elimination bouts. Leading up to the "finals" in that selected month.

It just never feels the same when there are 4 major champions and like 5 "sub/intercontinental/WBSUKJFPOK International Federation" etc champions. I wish there was more control so that there is an established champion. That is what creates the excitement to see who the next challenger to the "throne" is.

If Boxing had a legit commission, I would like to see a simple championship rankings system as well as some sort of "Superbowl of Boxing" event or series.
