Maybe because Berto is allowed to fight any old chump he wants and get paid copious amounts of money for it.

        Just a thought?

Now when it involves Martinez its "HBO is wrong"?

What so he can run and fight Vera or Andy Lee as planned?

Martinez clearly has had a much better year than I could say for Williams at that time. Martinez won the Middleweight title and avenged his loss to Williams in what is considered the KO of the Year for 2010.

I can give you several reasons why HBO should cater more to Martinez. Williams...not so much.

I don't have any problems with Martinez-Dzinziruk. People were putting Cotto for Martinez fight, but I don't like that matchup, because Cotto even for welterweight is quite short and after two big losses I'd hate see him smashed again.

EVERY boxing fan wanted to see a Martinez-Williams rematch.

I don't know anyone who wanted to see a martinez-Dzinziruk fight.

HBO forced a fight that the fans wanted in martinez-williams.

HBO is forcing a fight that no one gave two ****s about in martinez-dzinziruk

Paul already had his Quintana/Kolle/Sharmba Mitchell/Walther Mathysse gimme's for HBO money.

Martinez fought Bunema, Cintron, Pavlik and Williams 2x.

Nobody is complaining about the tactics, just the absurdity of their insistence on only select players.

If HBO takes this hard stance on all fighters, from here on out, there won't be an issue. But if they single out fighters without holding all fighters to the same standard, then there is a problem.

Also, there is a problem with these fighters getting guaranteed minimums from their promoters. I mean, who is this Euro fighter to come to America and get a guaranteed 750K from his dumb ass promoter, which in turn holds up potential fights. He has to get paid a certain minimum, and the promoter can't come up with it, unless he sucks HBO's jock to raise the license fee for the fight.

The structure of it all is just so wrong. Boxing needs to adopt the UFC model or we'll be forever forced in this endless cycle
