Comments Thread For: The Real Problem is The Middleweight Division

The Middleweight division can do better than Felix Sturm-Ronald Hearns. It can probably do better than Sergio Martinez-Sergiy Dzinziruk.

But, do you think Sergio Martinez can earn millions of dollars fighting in the Middleweight Division?

There is some truth in this article. It's not HBO guilty pushing Martinez-Dzinziruk fight, but there are really no good opposition. Best fights that Martinez could have were Cintron, Pavlik and Williams, by the prediction of most fans Sergio was not supposed come out beating all of them. He can fight Angulo, if Abraham comes back to middleweight that would be also good matchup. Sergio Mora is scheduled to fight Vera, I pick him to beat Bryan, must be good matchup Mora vs Martinez.

Also Mora came to Mosley fight with 157 pounds, I guess he walks around with 170+ pounds.

Dzinziruk-Martinez is a solid fight, period. If I were Sergio I'd take the fight at 154 though & scream to high heaven calling out the 2 higher pfp's,that way when they refuse,He can force boxing to recognize who should be #1.

Golovkin, pirog or lemiuex are the future of the division. Next 12 to 18 months will be one of theirs.

The article had some points but I think it was hastily made and published by the author.

He couldv'e waited for 2011 to go through and see how things shape up.

I agree that the middleweight division is horrible. IMO, Martinez-Sturm is the most logical option. But, Sturm doesn't want to leave Europe. And as long as the WBA is willing to santion nonsense like him fighting Ronald Hearns, and his hometown fans are willing to pay the piper, he'd be a damn fool to come over here and be exposed by Maravilla. IMO, Martinez needs to dump the belt and try his luck at super middleweight. Mayweather nor Pacquaio is gonna fight him. Cotto and Margarito are probably next on the money grab, but Arum isn't gonna let either near him. So Maravilla is basically wasting his time at middleweight. Super middleweight is hot, and he could make it even more interesting.

He could have waited in what way? By sitting out?
