    HBO to televise Ward fight!

HBO has announced that it will televise the pro debut of light heavyweight Andre Ward, the boxing gold medalist for the United States at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The fight takes place Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Ward is scheduled to face Christopher Molina (2-0) in a four-round super-middleweight bout on the undercard of the Antonio Tarver-Glen Johnson fight. Ward's pro debut will begin the HBO telecast at 9PM ET/ 6PM PT. The tape delay of Vitali Klitschko vs. Danny Williams, in which Vitali retained his world heavyweight title belt with an 8th round TKO, will be shown following Ward's fight. The 12-round light heavyweight fight between Tarver and Johnson, the two men to knock out Roy Jones Jr. in 2005, will conclude the boxing coverage on HBO for the evening and for the 2004 season.

It is great that he gets some exposure, but if he doesn't KO his opponent in the first round, it will be a failure.

Are his first ten or so fights going to be highly uncompetitive?

Definately! The were smart to grab him up that way He was our (Americas) ONLY 'golden boy' at the olympics after all. It will be interesting to see how he makes the transition from amateur to pro boxing too. Good for HBO!
