How would you give Fighter of the year to Martinez? By beating him to a decision.. Pavlik won some rounds and he's a 1 dimensional bum being hype up by Americans.

Williams is overrated whose being hype up by these Black Americans here.

Anyone who would have Martinez #1 is seriously jumping the gun a bit.

Ok, Martinez had a great year, the best year of 2010 which should make him the fighter of the year, but not pound 4 pound #1.

Glen Johnson was fighter of the year, but he wasn't pound 4 pound #1. Think about that. He had a better year (knocking out Roy Jones and beating Tarver) then the #1 guy did, but that didn't make him the best pound 4 pound fighter in the world.

Same hold trues for Martinez. Martinez had a great year - beat Pavlik and Williams. That's better than anyone esles 2010. But that doesn't mean he's better pound 4 pound than Pacquiao and Mayweather.

As for Floyd, he'll be dropped by May 2011 if he doesn't have a fight scheduled. The Ring's rules are if you don't have a fight scheduled for one year of fighting you'll be dropped from rankings so I suspect that's what will happen.

I also think Hopkins fans can make a strong case for him belonging at the 8-10 spot. The man hasn't lost a fight since the Calzaghe split decision loss and his performance in Montreal was pretty damn inspiring.

Martinez had a great year and people can argue that he deserves a higher ranking. But ranking him #1? That would be pushing it. Pacquiao got the #1 ranking because 1-his "selected" fights and 2- Mayweather's inactivity, both of which made them 1 and 2 when Mayweather was previously #1.

            i don't get the sergio #1 p4p talk.

you guys do realize that p4p rankings is based on a lot of things not just recent accomplishments.

sergio is FOTY and he deserves that.

            #1 p4p he doesn't.

So if williams was overrated, what was Clottey and Margarito. I don't know if you this, but the majority of the people who vote for ranking are white.

Didn't Margarito lose to williams, that was when Margarito was still in great shape.
(he unloaded 1200+ punches on Margarito)

So can you please explain yourself.

I don't think it's fair letting fans vote for an award as prestigous as FOTY, boxers work to hard to let a fan group decide the outcome.
The fan poll is different than The Ring's official awards.

I hope you're right, but it doesn't make any sense to make a fan poll when they're vote really shouldn't matter with award.

they announce winners of the fan poll.

the official awards are by votes from their writers/editors though.

think of it as the difference between the academy awards and people's choice awards.

Point taken, I take back the premature hate on "The Ring", let's wait and see if they prove me wrong.
