I believe that if Floyd DID NOT retire the first time, he would have won fighter of the decade. His inactivity the last two years of the decade really hurt him. Voting members usually remember the latest achievements rather than the past ones. Why do you think Oscar films are usually pushed till December instead of just spreading them out throughout the entire year? It's because voting members will always remember what they see last.

The hatton bout, he KO'd a chin checked fighter after the fact. Not to mention the blueprint was already laid for his team.

The cotto bout, why ask for a catch weight if it really does not mean anything. Cotto is not as skillful as most believe. His strength is in his strength. He is a strong fighter for a few rds who quickly fades. ssm, margarito, and clottey demonstrated that.

These are the 2 wins that get no credit from me. I have not even weighed in the su****ion of PEDs either.

It's my opinion that Floyd did not get fighter of the year because he retired with facing a lot of viable candidates.

I do not believe that Floyd is a "ducker" and all that, but walking away from the sport when welterweight was PACKED with talent (Margarito, Cintron, Cotto, Clottey, Berto, Williams) instead of cleaning out the division or going up in weight to meet new challenges is what cost him the award.
