As you see in the Cotto fight when Cotto was moving he got frustrated. His foot work ain't horrible(it's decent) its just not technically sound. Whatever he does it works for him. And he wins fights so can't argue there.

great post,i agree and feel the same way i don't think manny has horrible foot work but he surely does not have the best

No one said Pac had great footwork, but his speed and what he does is the key.

Pac has many gears.

When he got hurt in the 6th VS Margarito, he chose to dance around and box, which he did easily.

When he wanted to put on the pressure on Hatton he did.

When he wanted to not really get hit VS Oscar he did.

Yes they are slower on their feet that is true, but he was no where in danger really and could have done even more IMO.

Cotto and Hatton IMO have not got slow footwork either.

If Pac wanted to jump in and out fully, he could, and he will bring his best A game at 147 to any fighter who is real good.

I actually think that Roach does agreat job with footwork, he just puts it all in an offensive light.

I like offensive teams and offensive fighters, I hate the negative fighters and counter-punchers who wait for things to happen as opposed to creating their own opportunities. They bore me.


Pacquiao isn't a defensive guru, but his defense isn't terrible and what's more important, his offense is unparalleled. Best since Aaron Pryor.

hatton had a whole new team and trainer after the floyd fight and hatton was actually in mann's face the whole time it looked like manny couldn't get away from hatton and there were a few clinches in the 1st round but bayless seperated them but manny foot work didn't seem to be a factor at all to me in that fight manny actually looked bothered to me because ricky was always in his face yet at the same time the fact that ricky was right in front of him and givin manny space to punch is why manny was able to knock him out,the combination that lead to the 1st knockdown of that fight started with what people call get off me punches manny wasn't even lookin when he started to throw punches but bein that ricky was right in front of him plus the fact that ricky has never been known for his defense is the reason for manny knocking him out

check the video of that fight again, sir. Please, take note of Pac's sideways movement with a right hook to the face that lead to the first knockdown.
