Comments Thread For: Nishioka Targets Steve Molitor Unification Bout

WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka wants to make history by becoming the first Japanese boxer to become a unified world champion. He wants to capture the IBF and WBA titles in 2011. The first target on his list is IBF champion Steve Molitor of Canada. The only issue is the IBF's lack of recognition in Japan. The Japanese Boxing Board only recognizes the WBC and the WBA in the country. Nishioka may look to get an exception from the JBC to stage a fight with Molitor.

molitor is very under-rated. This would be a big mistake, as Molitor would make Noshioka look rather foolish. You will all see on showtime in March that Molitor is no joke.

I also doubt that Molitor will be going to Japan considuring he just signed with Top Rank. So if he wants some he gotta come to North America to get some.

Molitor didnt look great last time out..Nishioka looked excellent vs Munroe...so Nishioka takes this in my opinion...
I was hoping Munroe or Casey(if he beats Rigondeaux) would have a got a shot at Molitor...

IMO Nishioka beats Molitor, probably by late KO. Nishioka is very active and hits hard. Molitor has beaten nobody at Nishioka's level and he got smoked the one time he stepped up vs Caballero.

            .
So, he is fighting a guy in March, Ndlovu, that he's beaten twice before. What exactly is he going to show us that he didn't in the first two fights against this B-level opponent?

He is only fighting Ndolovu because he will lose his belt if he dont. The guy is once again his mandatory. Everybody knows the IBF recycles their contenders.

Ndlovu is a solid fighter though. Other notables he looked great against are Richardo Castillo (whom he actually looked better then in beating then Caballero) and Fernando Beltran (who exposed Joan Guzman, and Monty Meza-Clay).
