Top fighters should fight ranked opponents 2-3 times a year to qualify for p4p lists?

    Anyone agree?

Would this change anything with regards to frequency of the top guys fighting?

As much as I hate Manny Pacquiaos choice of Margarito and now Mosley as opponents, I probably wouldn't hate it as much if Mayweather and Pacquiao weren't being ****s about fighting each other. Reason being I like seeing the top fighters fight and I like the big events and Boxing needs as many of these as possible.

Guys need to fight more often, I don't like Mayweathers attitude of his fight is like the superbowl he only needs to fight once a year. A guy with the pull that he does could help Boxing reach the masses if he fought more often. Looking at that list of PPV numbers of Boxing, WWE and UFC showed that. Although on the flipside of the coin you have the fact that UFC decent fights are ONLY on PPV, whereas Boxing has alot of good fights on non-PPV cards.

Ok I went on a bit of a rant there, but the point still stands does anyone believe this sorta thing would force fighters to fight more often? Also too many promoters are ****in **** up...Imagine a year with Juanma vs Gamboa, Martinez vs Cotto, Mayweather vs Pacquiao, Margarito vs Cotto II, Haye vs Wlad and Vitali, Bradley vs Alexander, Bradley/Alexander vs Khan, Mayweather vs Martinez, etc etc

People need to stop shoutin out that a fighter is exposed or shot soon as they get KO'd or beaten also, but thats for another discussion.

Rant Over...hopefully that was coherent I don't start many threads and a lot of thoughts just exploded out of my head as I typed.

I agree with the thread title..It would be good for the sport..

With that being said Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have no place in this thread at all.

he does not mean it that way, he is talking about fighting top fighters in his own or bigger weight classes

jmm and hatton does not count as they were at a massive disadvantage, lesser to an extent hatton but certainly jmm

floyd shouldnt be on the p4p list as he has avoided the best guys in his weight class

the first good welter in how many years? also mosley was not ranked as a top ww at all, he was on a 18 month lay off remember? he lost his ranking but regardless I give floyd that but I can never forgive him for avoiding guys like cotto, williams and pac

look at how much bigger margo was to pac yet pac still took the fight on, he gave away like 18 pounts in that fight, williams would have fought floyd at 147 in a heartbeat, floyd would have made the same big money as well, he just went for easier options

OK, can we not turn it solely into another Mayweather-Pacquaio thread, or bashing either fighter please.

I think Mayweather is the best in the game and theoretically should be p4p 1 joint with Pac, but his lack of frequency should hurt him. We need to encourage our best to fight more often to further the sport.

Some guys like to act like they wanna fight this person and that person and that they are avoided, but when it comes to negotiations they act like divas. Guys like Williams asking for 50/50 with Pavlik and Berto gettin used to earnin big money from bums and Juanma asking for big dollars to fight guys....these guys need to prove their star power by beating guys rather than calling out Mayweather or Pacquiao to try and make a dollar off their back.

I had Mosley as number 1, because he earned the right and tried to make that fight with Berto for ages, his layoff would have been 12 months if that fight had gone ahead, but I recall him trying to make that fight for 2009 and was practically begging Pacquiao for a bout, so I don't totally blame him for his inactivity that year.

most fighters only fight twice a year period
                    and who cares about p4p?
                    those rankings don't really matter
should fight ranked guys on principle, not for p4p lists
