you know larry you're not that far off. It was revealed pavlik was in the betty ford clinic just days before the fight, amazingly.

I think that's why he regained so much weight, over 20 pounds after the official weigh in and also probably why he bled so damn much. Pavlik never bled like that before in his career, sure he had little nicks and little cuts but he was leaking like a busted water pipe.

I remember watching the fight and just thinking how terrible Kelly looked. He looked soooooo slow. He wasn't pulling the trigger and the fact that he put rehydrated almost 20 lbs and was bleeding more than usual was a clear sign of being weight drained.

Then the whole alcohol debacle unfolded and it all made perfect sense. I really hope he can get his act together and get back in the ring.

even then he had his moments though. He won the middle rounds and I remember thinking the momentum at one point shifted in kelly's favor and it felt like his power was going to win him the fight, but martinez obviously changed all that.

I really hope kelly gets it together. He was fun to watch. When he knocked out JT, man, that was one of the most exciting finishes to fight I had seen in years.

Agreed. Kelly is young and hopefully will get it together. If he does I can see him winning a title at 168.

The Ghost needs to shake the spirits of Jim Beam and get back in the Gym or unfortunatley for him he'll be spending the rest of his days in his bar.

He definitely needs a new trainer.

People seem to forget the grit he showed in that first win over Taylor and that he earned his right to be undisputed middleweight champ beating a guy that beat B Hop not once but twice. Pavlik may not be the most sophisticated Boxer, but he was a decent fighter and yet another example of how the vultures jump on you soon as you lose a fight or 2...the same guys who claim they would respect these undefeated fighters if they lost because they took a risk.

Pavlik sucks compared to Martinez, that's all
but given his current problems, maybe he was drunk

People also like to somehow forget the massive and savage beating Kelly dished out to a guy named Edison Miranda..ruining him in the process. An excellent fight.
