From 118 to 147? I'd have plenty of good things to say about him at his funeral.

But, basically, yes. It's been done before and will be done again. There are just more titles to win, less fighters and less skill overall in most champions making it easier to win more titles.

Anyway, I don't get it. Vic is 35 and still makes 115. Pac couldn't make 115 in his early twenties if he had to. In fact, since about 2005 or something he's always come into a fight as a WW, which is probably around his natural weight.

Vic is about 5'5" and Pac about 5'7". Pacquiao is the size of Ricky Hatton and has always been very big in those lower weights. Vic's not bigger than anyone he fights and is often smaller. Pac was always much bigger than the guys he fought at those lower weights. Hence, the reason he grew into a natural 135/140 fighter by his late twenties, which is usually the time a fighter is in his natural weight class. They have grown into their body size properly. Without pre fight day weigh ins, Pac would have been a LW, JWW or so for most of his career after zipping up from those lower weight classes very, very quickly. Kind of like what Jimmy McLarnin did.

****** question and ridiculous comparison. Compare it to fighters that have actually done it. Vic is a natural Flyweight and would have been making those weights in same day weigh ins. Pac would have made some of those lower weights as a starving teen, but would very quickly have moved up into FW, then LW and JWW and been there for the large majority of his career.

I guess there are some people who just stop growing at the age of 16 or 17.

I personally went from 162 lbs at 15 all the way to 205 at 18 and I had less fat and was in much better shape.

Thomas Hearns went from 144 to 190 lbs and though he didn't win a major title at Cruisweight Title, he heat Nate Miller, who had held the WBA belt the previous year. Hearns did that at 41 years of age as well.

I don't recall anyone accusing Hearns of being a steroid freak?

James Toney went from a 160 lb middlweight stick figure (at age 24) to being the best Cruiserweight in the World brutalizing Vassily Jirov. And yes he was fat, but he also had some damn impressive wins as a Heavyweight before he completely let himself go.

More recently, though he was a punk who basically gave up on the sport, is the case of Roberto Duran protege Julio Caesar Garcia. Like many latin fighters he went Pro at a very young age. He was 16 years old and weighed 123 lbs. By the time he was 21 he was pushing the scales at nearly 168 lbs.

The list goes on and on and on..

Manny did it in YEARS. How the hell would we know how we would feel YEARS down the line if he did?

good post. its all these facts that have me confused when the mayweathers rant about how its not possible to do what manny has done. Like if nothing else they know boxing but they act clueless when it comes to these points.
Roger is constantly saying Roberto Duran is the best hispanic fighter but he never questions his rise in the weights.

              its all silly to me

Vic and Manny were the same size, same power at the lower weights, knocked out and hurt by smaller men.
So if Vic moved up would it be a red flag?
you're pretty dumb. vic is 33+ years old.

pac was a teenager when he was fighting below 122 lbs.

Duran, Armstrong, Pacquiao, soon someone else again...

I know there are fighters who went from Flyweight to Heavyweight aswell, not that good fighters though.

But if Vic really goes to 147, damn he'll be in his 40's by that time.
