They automatically based it on the fact that Manny's last opponents were all fundamentally more discipline and smarter than Marquez inside the ring. Seriously though, i think Marquez has taken too many unnecessary punishment in his last two fights, he could change his game up against Manny, but we can only assume that.

cuz pacquiao is still a beast at welterweight while every1 questions jmm's ability 2 fight at the same level north of 135.

Marquez unlikely to land 3rd fight with Pacquiao From AUGUST 1st 2010.

They were running from Marquez then! lol @ honest Arum pretending Marquez was a recent "choice" for Manny to "Decide" on.

            LAS VEGAS (AP)
Juan Manuel Marquez became the pre-eminent Mexican boxer of his generation with his virtuosic win over Juan Diaz, and he feels his impressive career would be complete after one more fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Marquez also realizes he'll probably never get that fight - not while Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank are embroiled in a feud that essentially prevents their fighters from meeting in the ring.

Boxing's top two promotional companies are increasingly bad-tempered rivals who just won't work together. Pacquiao, the top fighter in Top Rank's collection, stands on the opposite side of that divide from Marquez, who is backed by Golden Boy.

Marquez punctuated his thrashing of Diaz on Saturday night with a call for a third fight against Pacquiao, the pound-for-pound champion. But Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer responded with a chuckle when asked if he would call Top Rank boss Bob Arum about putting Marquez and Pacquiao together.

''Well, we all know Bob (Arum) wants to do the in-house stuff, and that's his choice,'' Schaefer said. ''It's clearly unfinished business there, but it's all right. Marquez is not a beggar. We're not going to go on our knees. There are so many other great fights out there.''

Arum has made the same complaint about Golden Boy in the past two years, and the companies have scarcely worked together in that time. Arum has decried Golden Boy's cozy relationship with HBO, while Schaefer has criticized Arum for only entertaining Top Rank-backed foes for Pacquiao's next bout, likely to be against Antonio Margarito on Nov. 13.

''We all know it isn't Manny Pacquiao that doesn't want the fight,'' Schaefer said. ''It's his promoter that doesn't want to fight Marquez, and that's fine.''

There's another very good reason for Pacquiao to stay away from Marquez, however: The 36-year-old Mexican star is the only man who even came close to beating him in the past 5 1/2 years, and Marquez proved his skills haven't eroded even slightly with his unanimous decision over Diaz at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

''When you prepare yourself the way I do, age doesn't matter,'' Marquez said. ''I'm going to keep pressing on and doing my best, and if I get a chance with Pacquiao, I'm going to use it.''

Marquez erased any notion he had lost his edge after a lopsided loss to the much bigger Floyd Mayweather Jr. last September, battering Diaz in a rematch of their acclaimed February 2009 bout. Marquez made $1 million and a pay-per-view cut to beat Diaz - a hefty payday for a lighter-weight fighter, but a fraction of his $4 million-plus for moving up two weight classes to meet Mayweather.

Marquez and Pacquiao fought to a draw in 2004, in a fight many observers believed Marquez won. Pacquiao then won a razor-thin split decision over Marquez in 2008, by far Pacquiao's closest result during his 12-fight winning streak.

''Juan Manuel Marquez is fully licensed and approved to fight in Nevada on Nov. 13, just in case Bob is wondering,'' Schaefer said with a grin, poking at Margarito's inability to get licensed in Nevada after getting caught with plaster-like inserts in his hand wraps before a fight against Sugar Shane Mosley last year in California.

Instead, Marquez is likely to fight in December against Amir Khan, Michael Katsidis or Robert Guerrero - all fighting for Golden Boy.

Pacquiao's showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. wasn't a victim of that divide - the blame appears to rest on Mayweather's reluctance now - but Marquez's dreams are among many sacrifices to the promoters' intransigence.

Just how bad is the divide? Golden Boy is putting on a major card at Staples Center on Sept. 18 largely showcasing its own fighters, including a main event between Mosley and Sergio Mora, while Top Rank will stage its own card in Las Vegas on the same night, headlined by featherweights Juan Manuel Lopez and Rafael Marquez - who fights for promoter Gary Shaw - at the MGM Grand Garden.

Simultaneous major cards are a rarity in boxing, yet both companies willingly crowded each other on the same date 260 miles apart.

Juan Manuel Marquez might be under the Golden Boy banner, but he'll be paying more attention to the fight in Vegas, where Rafael will attempt to win a title in his third weight class - making Mexico City's Marquezes the only brothers to accomplish such a feat.

Even if he can't land a third fight with Pacquiao, Marquez still has goals in his late 30s. If he moves up to 140 pounds, he can go after a title in his fourth weight class - and the stars of that loaded division will provide plenty of entertaining possibilities.

''All of my fans want to see me fight (Pacquiao), and all of his fans want to see the fight,'' Marquez said. ''If they won't take it, I'll defend my (lightweight) titles, or I'll go after another one. But we all know which fight the fans really want to see.''

"Pacquiao's gotten better! He's faced better fighters! He's much better than 2008!"

It's a joke. If Marquez comes as a pure counter puncher and doesn't try to be aggressive(which is the reason why he was knocked down and stunned in the 2nd fight). He'll win this fight no problem. Marquez is better than DLH, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, and Mosley.
Exactly!! All the fighters Pacquiao has faced are not at the level of Marquez. The best fighter Manny fought was Cotto!! And that aint saying much after the beating from Margarito, so IMO JM Marquez would beat Pacquiao in a third fight, Pacquiao's people dont want to fight Marquez now, they want him to get older or get beat up by someone bigger and someone they are scared to fight!! ***** ass move by Top Rank!!!

Read my post from the AP right above yours. It even stated in AUGUST after the diaz fight Marquez wouldn't get a third fight with Manny. Definately not now after the Katsidis win.

They'll wait for Marquez to show signs of decline and a good loss or two. Then he'll be "100%" ready for Manny Excuses the congroidsman.

Manny will pick the gloves, weight, ring size, ref...and juice to the gills.

And honest Bob will claim he's giving the fans the fight they've been "asking for".

Manny is comfortable at 144-147, while the added weight makes Marquez slow and lethargic.

Cuz' they're dumb and don't think critically.

Pac's been fighting tailor made opponents at catchweights with all the advantages.

While JMM fought a terrible style matchup who is the best defensive fighter in the boxing, while being cheated on the catchweight agreement.

Pac would look worse against Fraud than JMM did. Bet on that.

At this point, Pacquaio beats JMM rather easily. Mexico is down to an Irishman named Alvarez. Good luck!
