RJJ Vs Toney WTF is gotten into everyone

ok let me start here i dont hate RJJ nor i like him but it seems like everyone in here either nuthuggs the **** out of RJJ or hates on him 24/7 even posters who i consider very reasonable, and non-biasided seem to have fallen for this one.
now here its what bugs me RJJ was a great figther at some point, yes he might have dodged people, but he had the physicall capabilities few other fighters have ever had, yes he has a week chin(at least at LHW and HW) but come on he started at MW so its not something too bad after all, he is not The greatest ever either. but why can people realize that this fight is not goign to be a blow out for either side and it might endup being pretty close after all ????

couldn't have said it better myself...internet fans...that is life...well not life...but the internet...

no one seems to want to say that RJJ was a great fighter who could have been greater had he fought a certain few guys...but he was still great...I think many seem to have it in their head that you are either great or a bum...rather than there being various levels of greatness...

but various opinions make internet fans what we are...it will never change...

yeah but why can anyone just be objective and admit neither RJJ or Tarver are going to get killed by the other one.

              hmm

Uhh, heh? Jones ain't fighting Toney, so what is the point of this thread? Jones is fighting Tarver. Here are my thoughts on the issue, which I'm positive this won't be the last thread on Jones' legacy, etc.

Jones was a great fighter. His chin was never questioned until late in age, which pretty much discounts any assertion that he had a weak chin his whole career. There's simply not enough evidence to support that. I'll just leave it at that. I'm not going to get into whether he should be top 10 p4p ever or top 50. It cannot really be proved that he ducked anyone. You cannot duck someone if you never had an obligation to fight them. In fact, it's just as arguable that guys he supposedly ducked wanted no part of him, depending upon the case one might bring up. guys like Tarver and Woods became mandatories, and got their shots deservingly.

I have noticed some people on here lately who seem very confident in RJJ in his comeback, but that doesn't make them a "nuthugger" automatically. Maybe they are just a fan, and truly feel they have legit reasons to pick RJJ as the winner. I myself cannot decide just yet. However, I can understand it if someone feels Tarver would win by stoppage. That doesn't make them a hater. I mean, Jones was stopped in his last two fights, so it is obviously possible that he could get waxed again. At least he can cite his old age as a reason, or his fans and colleagues can.

              Haters say things like:

"Jones is not great because he had a weak chin."

"Roid sucks because he didn't beat Lennox Lewis instead of Ruiz."

"RJJ never fought anyone, and ducked everyone."

These are obvious hater statements, and if I was smart (which I am not) I would ignore people who make such erroneous statements.

i stop reading where you said he had a weak chin at heavy and light heavy

after that i knew you knew nothing you was talking about

im tired of this weak chin ****
he had one fight at heavy and wasnt hurt
he got koed in 2 fights his 51 and 52nd fight i believe
                that dont support weak chin

ive seen roy hit many times hard and kept going

against tarver1 he took soem shots and walked it off
in tarver 2 he got caugth with a perfect shot
that would have hurt or droped any LH
                and roy still got up

in johnson roy was takin a beating from the getgo
took some hard shots was stuned
the shot that droped him caught him in the temple
what made him stay down was the fall

stop being like everyone else and atually study
                and watch the ****
                thanks

sorry about the title i got the names mixed up but notice in my later posts i did say the right name.
now that is a great point RJJ's chin wanst questioned until way at the end of his carrer, he did fight good opposition, but he also missed otu in some fights i dont know if it was because he didnt want to fight them because he was scared of them or because had other goals set on mind.
but i am questioning his chin right now, and since it has been soo long since his last fight i have no idea how good his conditioning is right now, remember his condition was one of his biggest assets

and boxer2k5 i have seen the fights and The Tarver 2 is not like RJJ too alot of shots come on man it was only 2 rounds.
so why do you say i dont knwo anything if i question his chin right now??

                    hmm

It is quite possible that RJJ's chin is "weak" now, or average. However, you have to look at the difference in Roy now and Roy 5 years ago, and study his losses. Roy was hit with some bad rabbit punches in the first fight with Tarver, and was also dehydrated for the fight, which is the main reason fighters die in the ring (because they are dehydrated and take a beating). Roy's brain may have been damaged after the first Tarver fight, which would serve him up to be more easily KO'd in the rematch. However, even in the rematch you can argue that the punch he was caught with would have stopped anyone. It was quite brutal after all. Vs Glen, I have it from good sources from Roy's camp that Roy was listless in training. Had he trained hard he probably would have avoided that brutal of a fight and won a decision.

However, just looking at the KO, Roy was hit on the temple, which makes it much easier to KO someone, and also his head hit QUITE hard on the mat. When you look at these things, you might be able to say Roy's chin is not so good anymore, but you cannot argue reasonably that his chin has always been bad. Most people who argue he's always had a bad chin have said it all along and merely got lucky when Tarver and Johnson KO'd Roy, and instead of looking at the partifulars of it, they claimed it verified their long-biased claims that Roy had a weak chin his whole career.
