If you could fix the current state of boxing...

I've read many threads on here saying "this is hurting boxing, this is messing up boxing's reputation" etc... so let's say it right here - what would YOU do to "FIX" boxing?

Here's what I would do in a nutshell:

Promoters - get rid of all promotional companies and have boxing centrally managed

Weight divisions - consolidate the divisions - there's too many. Mine would be 112, 125, 140, 154, 165, 178, 200, 215+. This would allow fighters to fight closer to their natural walking weight.

Consolidate governing bodies - IBA, WBO, WBA,.... nonsense... why are there multiple champions in a single weight division?

Get rid of HBO commentators, or HBO altogether - it's unappealing to the younger crowd when you've got the crypt keeper himself on TV. Move to a new network... less and less people are subscribing to HBO in general due to online video companies like Netflix - they're losing potential viewers.

Put in place catch weight policies - cannot be less or more than 3 pounds of the target division

Anyway, those are just some idealistic things I would do - which would never ever happen. What's yours?

Man that's like saying lets clean up the Gov...
Too much money, too much dirt, too much of everything would be affected...

Too many loopholes closed, too many jobs lost, too many people exposed... Boxing is and has always been a dirty sport.
Why do you think boxing commissions arent looking seriously into random drug tests...
Because it would **** everything up.!
Boxing is all about money, deal with it and hope for a fair clean fight.

There are a lot of things that need to be fixed, but I'd be happy with just one thing: having a single world champion per weight class.

That way if you want to be the top dog you have to go after the belt. Instead of just being satisfied with picking up one of the many alphabet trinkets and then never fighting the best guys.

            Have HBO only for fights.

            GBP as the only promoter.

Ban the boring ass germans(joke of boxing) from the sport.

            One champ per weight class.

If you want to clean Boxing and Get the Fights that you crave, here is an idea... First, all of these boxing websites, it's writers, analyst, arm-chair experts and their hardcore fans should contribute their hard-earn $ to create their own promotion. Second, they should put a boxing stable where they can train young and "slick in the city" black fighters who has balls and not boring and doesn't beat women and poke people. Third, They should create their own Boxing organization with eight weight classes like the old days so we will have "a real linear champion" in all weight division. NOW, if this so-called Boxing arm-chair experts, pro-boxing websites and "hardcore whiners" boxing fans(mostly fatties in a couch infront of a computer) cant do this to clean-up boxing... then STFU?!?

1 belt per division would do a lot. To make money you have to fight the best. When there are 4 belts you can beat a guy whos barely top 10 and convince everybody you did something.

Getting rid of promoters is out right socialist!
Every red blooded American knows that.

                    I'd make fights mandatory though.
